Snapchat Statistics: 70 Percent of Users Are Women

We spotted an interesting stat today, on the user demographics of Snapchat - and this stat comes straight from the CEO - more than 70 percent of Snapchat users are women. (Source)

That is a very interesting stat - given the nature of the service - self-destroying snaps - but the impact of this number on user behavior and advertising potential deserve a closer look. If this gender trend continues, it could actually have both positive and negative impact for Snapchat. Reminds us of the Pinterest story where Ben Silbermann found his first "real" users in certain groups of women.
